Skopelos free walking tours
A tour that combines walking, the folk culture, and a local art workshop.
About me
My name is Rigina Bountala and I am from Skopelos. I studied Archaeology at the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology of the University of Thessaly in Volos and Coaching at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Since 2013 I have been studying the history of the island and I have also worked as an oral history researcher through the Istorima project and I have collected 36 oral histories from Skopelos. In 2022 my first contribution was published with the text "Memories of the Tarshanades in Skopelos" in the album of the Skopelos Port Fund "From the port of Peparithos... to the ports of Skopelos".
In the last years I work as a tour escort and I show all the beautiful neighborhoods of Skopelos Chora and the places where the movie Mamma Mia was filmed to the tourists sharing with them all the stories I have collected and the folk culture of the island.
My love for the island, its history, but also my involvement with my family's traditional micro-shipbuilding art led me to take the decision to hold in Skopelos for the first time the Free Walking Tours where every visitor of the island will be given the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience at no cost and see the island from a different perspective.
